Inclusive Business was one of the three major topics at a Business Council for Sustainable Development Zimbabwe (BCSDZ) Workshop held at the end of March 2014 at Leopard Rock Hotel in the Vumba.
The Workshop was also the first such event for the newly re‐launched BCSDZ Branch in Manicaland, which is chaired by Mr Remington Mpande, a BCSDZ Councillor and Production Executive, Manica Boards & Doors (Pvt) Ltd. The other two topics at the Workshop were firstly, the new Green Industry Initiative in Zimbabwe and, secondly, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
The 3 in 1 Workshop was chaired by Mr Misheck Kachere, BCSDZ Chairman and CEO, Chemplex Corporation Ltd. Mr Waddilove Sansole, Inclusive Business Advisor, SNV Zimbabwe, gave a comprehensive presentation on “An introduction to Inclusive Business and Inclusive Business in Action”, which included two case study videos, one on the Matanuska Banana project and the other on Knowledge Transfer Africa.
Mr Sansole noted that considerable progress had been made on assisting with 20 feasibility studies of Inclusive Business projects and that the 11 pilot grants awarded in 2013 included six on agribusiness, two
on sanitation and hygiene, two on SME's and one on ICT.
SNV Zimbabwe still welcomes applications for Inclusive Business Scans which are designed to assist with feasibility studies for potential Inclusive Business projects. Successful applicants can obtain 75 per cent
of the expected pre‐agreed budget cost for the scan, up to a maximum of $3 500. There is a procedure to be followed by a company to apply for a scan, which can be done with the assistance of an SNV Advisor. If
